Rev. Father Scott Gratton, Captain/Chaplain - VT Army National Guard
Our Lady of the Angels and Our Lady of the Valley parishes welcomed the Reverend Father Scott A. Gratton as our new pastor, effective Sept. 9th, 2019.
Father Gratton is responsible for 3 Catholic churches: Our Lady of the Angels in Randolph VT, St. Anthony's in Bethel, VT, and St. John the Evangelist in Northfield, VT.
Father Gratton is also a Captain in the Vermont Army National Guard and serves as the Chaplain for 3-172 Infantry (Mountain) Battalion.
He is also the Catholic Chaplain at Norwich University in Northfield, Vt.
Father Gratton was ordained on July 11, 2015 and served as the parochial vicar at St. Francis Xavier Church before joining our parishes. He grew up in Newport Center, VT, educated at the local Catholic and public schools. After graduating from Middlebury College in 2009 as a double major in Religion and Italian, Father Gratton then studied Philosophy at Providence College before entering major seminary at the Pontifical North American College in Rome.
Fr. Gratton was previously the Vice Principal for Catholic Mission and Head Chaplain at Rice Memorial High School.
In 2019, Father Gratton spent the summer at Fort Jackson, SC, undergoing basic training and training for the Army chaplaincy, and is currently served in the Vermont Army National Guard with 3-172 Infantry Battalion (Mountain).
Father Gratton is a fan of banjo playing, soccer, rugby, fishing, and singing. As a seminarian, he spent summers with the Totus Tuus program for children throughout Vermont and has served in parishes around the state.
